Generac Generator Installation

Whole-home Generac standby systems, sized properly and installed by our own licensed crew — permit, inspection and startup included, not left for you to chase.

  • Generac Authorized Dealer — warranty claims filed by us
  • Permit pulled and inspection coordinated by us
  • Load sizing before you get a price, not after
  • Licensed under TECL #37583

What a professional Generac install includes

A standby generator is not a delivery, it is a construction job with electrical and gas work in it. Everything below is part of the price we quote, so there is nothing left for you to arrange separately:

  • Site evaluation and load sizing — what you actually want running, not a guess from square footage
  • Permit and inspection — pulled and coordinated by us with your city or county
  • Concrete pad — poured and cured, or a raised platform where the lot takes water
  • Gas line coordination — sizing the run and dealing with the meter upgrade if one is needed
  • Automatic transfer switch — whole-home or essential-circuits, specified to the load
  • Electrical hookup — by the same licensed crew, not subcontracted out
  • Startup and walkthrough — commissioned under load, and we show you how it runs
  • Warranty registration — done by us at handover

One of ours — raised on a platform rather than straight onto the pad, which is worth doing on a lot that floods.

Why homeowners here pick Generac

We install all three brands we carry and we do not push one over another. These are the practical reasons Generac ends up on the quote most often in this area:

  • The widest model range. Air-cooled Guardian units cover the majority of homes, with liquid-cooled Protector models above that. Sizing rarely forces a compromise, which matters when the load calculation lands awkwardly between two sizes.
  • Parts availability is the best of the three. On a brand this widely installed, a part that is in stock locally is the difference between a repair this week and a repair next month.
  • Remote monitoring is well established. Mobile Link tells you the unit ran its weekly self-test, rather than you finding out it did not during an outage.
  • We are an Authorized Dealer. Warranty work goes through us. You do not file a claim or wait on the manufacturer to find you someone local.

How the job runs

  1. 1. Free site visit and load calculation. We look at the panel, the gas supply and where the unit can legally sit, and work out the size from what you want running.
  2. 2. Written quote. Fixed scope, itemised. You see what the pad, the gas work and the transfer switch each cost.
  3. 3. Permit and scheduling. We pull the permit and book the crew. This step is paced by your jurisdiction, not by us.
  4. 4. Installation. Pad, set, gas, electrical, transfer switch — our own crew, not subcontractors.
  5. 5. Inspection, startup and walkthrough. Commissioned under load, inspected, warranty registered, and we show you how to run it before we leave.

Where we install

Fort Bend County and west and south-west Houston, including Richmond, Rosenberg, Sugar Land, Katy, Fulshear, Missouri City, Stafford, Cypress, Pearland and Bellaire. We are based in Richmond, so most of this is a short run rather than a half-day drive — which matters more for service calls than it does for the install.

Comparing brands

Worth reading the other two before you decide — we install all of them and the right answer depends on your house, not on what we would rather sell:

FAQ

Common questions

What maintenance does a Generac need after installation?
Standby generators run a self-test regularly and need scheduled servicing to keep the manufacturer warranty intact — oil, filters, plugs and a load check at the intervals the manufacturer sets. Skipping it is the most common reason a unit fails during the outage it was bought for. We register the warranty at handover and can put the unit on a maintenance plan.
Are you an authorized Generac dealer?
Yes. Critical Power Solutions is a Generac Authorized Dealer, which means warranty work on Generac equipment goes through us directly rather than you chasing the manufacturer. We are a licensed Texas electrical contractor, TECL #37583, so the electrical side of the install is done by the same company that sells you the unit.
Do you handle the permit for a Generac installation?
Yes. A standby generator install involves electrical and, in most cases, fuel-gas work, and both need a permit and inspection from whichever authority covers your address. We pull the permit and coordinate the inspection as part of the job. Permitting timelines are set by your city or county, not by us, and they are usually the longest part of the schedule.
What size Generac generator do I need for my house?
It depends on what you want running during an outage, not on the square footage of the house. We work out your running load, add the largest single startup surge — usually an air conditioner compressor — and size so the unit sits comfortably under about 80% of its rated capacity. Generac's air-cooled range covers most homes, with liquid-cooled units above that for larger properties. Our sizing calculator gives you a starting figure before anyone visits.
